The Ultimate Book Tag

Stolen from Oh Leona!

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?
I don't know about the car these days. I used to get travel sick really badly with everything but then bus journeys to school helped me get used to that.

2. Which author's writing style is completely unique to you and why?
Probably Terry Pratchett, I haven't read much of his books yet but his world and his characters are so unique and his writing style is really cool too in a way I am rubbish at trying to describe.

3. Harry Potter series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.
Harry Poter
1. The world is more complete with the schools and the ministry. Twilight is set completely in our world.
2. The characters are more well-rounded, they have flaws, they are ultimately human.
3. The fandom is so amazing and all the thought that goes into what could have happened outside the main books.

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is it in (besides books...)?
I don't carry a specific book bag but I often carry a bag which may or may not have a book inside. Other things I carry are usually my work stuff, umbrella, diary, water, tissues etc. Basic things.

5. Do you smell your books?
If they're new then yes. I'm not a fan of old book smell.

6. Books with or without little illustrations?
I like it when books have little extras but it doesn't make much of a difference either way.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn't quality writing?
The Twilight Saga. I loved them while reading them and I do still enjoy them but as I've got a bit older (I first read them when I was 18 and I'm now 24) I've started to realise that the writing quality isn't the best and the characters are very one-dimensional.

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!
Sadly no :(

9. What is the thinnest book on your shelf?
Probably the Harry Potter companion books. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is very skinny.

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?
Probably The City of Heavenly Fire, it's tall and fat and annoyingly doesn't match the rest of the series so it has to stand alone >.< Also The Green Mile.

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?
I do! I'm procrastinating on writing a fantasy trilogy and I have loads of other ideas too, plus I've just started a Harry Potter Alice in Wonderland crossover fanfic but I don't know how far I'll get with that. I would love to be a published author like JK Rowling :D

12. When did you get into reading?
I've always loved reading, my mum jokes that I used to climb over the other kids in nursery/school to get to the reading corner.

13. What is your favourite classic book?
Black Beauty and Alice in Wonderland. And I'd say Harry Potter is a modern classic.

14. In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?
I'm guessing Language Arts is another name for English Literature i.e. all your Shakespeare and stuff... I wasn't very good at that. I was a bit better at English Language as that was more creative. But my best GCSE grades were actually for Art and History.

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated... what would you do?
If it was someone I knew really well then I'd be honest. Depending on how long ago I'd read it I might try re-reading it to see if my opinion had changed. Beyond that I'm not sure.

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?
Children of the Red King by Jenny Nimmo has similar themes to Harry Potter with boarding school, magic and sinister threats. They're targeted at a slightly younger audience, maybe 8-12 or something like that but I still love them. As for the Hunger Games, Divergent is another dystopian trilogy but of course fairly popular.

17. What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while filming?
N/A

18. What is your favourite word?
I don't really have a favourite but I quite like magic, freckles, kitten, tree.

19. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?
A bit, yeah :)

20. Finally, full on romance or action-packed with a few love scenes thrown in?
I can feel in the mood for both but on majority I prefer action-packed with a few love scenes.

Non-Tag Tag

Saw this Liebster tag thing on Just me, Leah's blog and decided to do it :D

Here are the rules.
  1. Mention who nominated you for the award.
  2. Each person nominated must list 11 different things about themselves.
  3. Answer 11 questions that the previous tagger has left you.
  4. Create your own 11 questions.
  5. Tag up to 11 people

11 things about me:

  1. I love books and am constantly filling up bookcases (volunteering in a charity shop really doesn't help).
  2. I collect notebooks. I have piles of them everywhere. I buy them to write my stories in but then there's odd ones that I think they're too nice to ruin if a story goes wrong.
  3. My longest lived dream is to be a published author. I am constantly thinking up stories and starting them. I have several that I think could be viable for publishing and one trilogy that when it's written should do well, I've just got to write it first -_-
  4. I also hate my feet. I'm a size 9 UK which means I can never get nice shoes to fit. My feet are also quite flat which in combination with feet that turn out (I was told by a doctor when I was young that inline skates would be a bad idea, I don't know if the joint is weaker or something) makes a lot of shoes very uncomfortable.
  5. When I was in school my hair used to be just above my bum then I cut it to shoulder length and it's gone shorter ever since including a funky asymmetrical cut and a grade 3 or 4 shave. I'm now growing it out for dreadlocks.
  6. I also collect ornaments. Unicorns, pegasi, horses, wolves, dragons, faeries and owls. I will eventually do a post about my room which will showcase them.
  7. I have a serious phobia about bees and wasps to the point that I will jump in the road to get away from them.
  8. My dream is to move to a house in the Welsh countryside with huge rooms and about 10 acres of land so I can keep horses. I also wouldn't mind learning Welsh.
  9. Horses are my favourite animal and I have always wanted to learn how to ride but when I was young we didn't have the money and as I got older I put too much weight on.
  10. I love snakes and really want a pet corn snake.
  11. I am a non-displaying Goth at heart, I love black, bats and spooky things.

Leah's questions:

  1. Who would you say has been the single biggest influence on your life? My mum definitely. She's always been there and she loves me for who I am :)
  2. If you're attached, where did you meet your partner? I LOVE hearing how couples found each other! If you're single, tell me what you look for in a partner or who your celebrity crush is. Sadly single but I look for a girl who is fun, quirky, trustworthy and who has similar interests to me. I love curvy girls :D My celebrity crush is Kirsten Vangsness aka Penelope Garcia on Criminal Minds :)
  3. What song do you play to get you in the party mood before a night out? I don't go out but when it comes to dancing Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 is always good :)
  4. If you could go back to any period in history, which would it be? The 80's had the best music and fashion so probably then.
  5. What was your favourite subject in school, and why? Art and English because they were the things I was best at. I also quite liked GCSE History as I had a really good teacher and I was good at it (it's always easy to like stuff you're good at XD).
  6. What do you spend the most of your money on? (excluding rent, food and travel.) What money? We do Avon regularly and I'm usually buying nail varnish from that. I also get a lot of books and some clothes from the PDSA charity shop I volunteer at.
  7. What are your favourite 3 possessions? My computer, my book collection and my iPod.
  8. If you had to live in another country, which one would it be? Within the United Kingdom then Wales but otherwise either Canada or Australia.
  9. What makes you happy? Reading and music.
  10. What was your best holiday/vacation ever? I've only ever been on holiday once and that was to Weymouth for a week with my best friend/ex-girlfriend and her grandparents. I really enjoyed it, it was September but the weather was great.
  11. What would you like your legacy to be? How would you like people to remember you? I suppose if I'm remembered at all would be fantastic. But I'd love to be a published author and have people remember me for that.

My questions:
  1. What is your favourite band?
  2. If you could go on holiday anywhere where would it be?
  3. Which blogger inspires you most?
  4. What is your favourite book?
  5. What is your biggest fear?
  6. What would be the one thing you would save in a fire?
  7. Skirt or trousers?
  8. What is your favourite TV show?
  9. What is your favourite feature on the opposite and same sex?
  10. What is your favourite film?
  11. What would you buy if money was no object?

Feel free to fill this out if you haven't done it but otherwise I shall tag Sian of Sort Life Out; Buy Milk one of my favourite bloggers :)

Fear Tag

I was reading Nocturne Street and spotted this with a note at the bottom saying if you are reading you're automatically tagged so I stole it XD

  • Answer the questions!
  • Tag however many others as you want and link them in your post.
  • Tell the others you've tagged them on their blogs.
  • If you read their posts and notice you share the same fears, give them a virtual hug. :)

Questions

1) Three things you're afraid of for a very good reason (in order).

2) Three irrational fears of yours (in order).

3) The medical term for one of your fears.
4) Are you superstitious in any way?
5) Are you easily startled?
6) Do you have any common fears (heights, bugs, etc.)
7) When you watch horror movies, are you better at dealing with suspense or gore?
8) Are you afraid of ghosts?
9) Are you afraid of any animals?
10) What was your scariest nightmare about?

Answers

1) Deep water - you can drown, fire - horrific burns and loss of possessions and bees - stings (I'm not allergic though) and I will risk traffic to get away from them.
2) Spiders - England doesn't exactly have poisonous spiders XD, dolls - can't actually move to hurt you and clowns - generally considered children's entertainment and as such not logically threatening...
3) Bees = Apiphobia
4) Kinda, I touch wood, avoid ladders, occasionally avoid cracks in the pavement if I'm feeling silly - mostly because it reminds me of The Land Before Time and one of the silly moments in a fairly serious film. Black cats confuse me because I can never remember which side is supposed to be good luck vs bad luck, it changes worldwide.
5) Not really
6) Spiders, most bugs, clowns are fairly common, small spaces... I have a lot of fears really...
7) Gore. I love gory films, the Saw series is one of my favourite film franchises :D
8) No, I believe in them but I'm not really scared of them. Maybe if I encountered one I'd feel differently.
9) Sharks, crocodiles, I'm also a bit wary around strange dogs. Particularly big ones even though personally I've been closer to being bitten by a small dog than by a big one...
10) I don't think I've ever had a nightmare... Not that I can remember anyway, I don't think I really dream... If I do it's usually about something really random like toilets O_o
